The team could certainly do with Alonso back, we are unrecognisable since he left!

however much I liked Alonso as a player the man is classless, he has caused more problems at LFC than any onther player in the last 3 years IMO and he also put in a TRANSFER REQUEST.. He left because HE wanted to, more money playing for a massive club in his homeland, thanks for the memories Xabi but stick to Madrid.....

BTW we do miss him.....

A lot I can agree with Scoff. A lot of supporters, the likes of me stuck up for Xabi when we went in for Barry... how was this repaid exactly???

However truly great player and I would have him back.

COMPLETELY UNRECOGNISABLE.
no one knows what to do with the fcking ball once they have it.

hope we can sort it out short term and then buy a genuine world class midfielder in the summer

Generalisation.... Sorry but I struggle when we have these type of quotes they make me cringe. And then I come back to the same questions... How would Xabi have faired in the current mess. For the one season you can give me, or even certain matches, then I can give you 2 season where he didn't a a fair few matches that he wasn't what people make out. The thing is this, he was very good in the season we came 2nd, but equally had a lot of players equally playing out of their skins... Now those players are struggling for a variety of reasons and therefore it wouldn't matter so much what Xabi did with the ball.

Equally how do you think Alonso would have coped with Roy's tactics and style of management. Roy would have probably come in, offloaded him or something or shunted him out on the wing... One things for certain he would have been told to hoof the thing.

you have your opinion jbm and I have mine.

we've not been the same ever since Xabi left. Since his departure there seems to be no pattern whatsover to our play. Obviously last year we were a little better than this year, but overall, his departure has affected our play terribly.

I had hoped Aquilani would compensate although he does play higher up the field, but hodgson let him go on loan.. so that went down the toilet.

Opinions aside... and truthfully I am leaving all opinions out of this, please review what I have discussed and then look at what the real problems are. Otherwise we can just state fuck the entire rest of the team, sell them all and just get Alonso back and a team of trained monkeys, as we were a one man team after all... This is what I am saying.

We haven't been the same since Alonso left due to the following;
1. We equally lost Arbeloa and Sami at the same time and then had a defence that was all lost at sea until Xmas 09, in which time we had injuries to all our CB's and were trying to bed in no less than 3 or 4 others.
2. Masch head was not with LFC until after Argentina qualified for the WC.
3. Reira had suddenly threw a strop, then got injured, then lost form. Put more pressure on Yossi to play more games as Babel was shit again and as a result Yossi got injured.
4. Kuyt was running on empty after not having a break for 3 seasons and with no one to replace him due to so many injuries, then his form suffered.
5. Torres was missing for more than half the season.
6. Gerrard was sulking his way through matches with many problems off the pitch

Now there is just six I can be bothered with before I go onto a whole host of others. I have already mentioned that stats and facts wise in 09/10 that the area of the field where all our stats went up was the area occupied by Alonso, so this dispells what was saying.

Now fast forward to this season and where would you like to start, as I have already given a fair few before about Roy, tactics and formations.

Alonso, like it or not, opinions or not, could not have done shit all about it and for prime examples I have a few whilst equally playing for Real and there they have a squad of everybodies who's, who in the worlds top 30 players... He recently starred in a 5v0 drubbing against Barca, that and last season saw them get knocked out of the CL by a team that equally put us out.

So I know how you admire Alonso, I do too, but I won't kid myself when there is so many facts that I can prove that Alonso would have faired no better. He have just been playing hard in a struggling team.
