i think he'd be a better option than ngog, 17 goals already this season and establishing himself in the ireland team

Liverpool are being linked with a shock summer move for Reading striker Shane Long.

The Irish international forward has been in fine form for the Championship outfit this season, and Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish is thought to have targeted the player as a potential summer addition.

Long, who scored the winner against Liverpool in Reading's 2-1 FA Cup victory at Anfield last season, has 14 goals to his name this term and is the leading score at the Madejski Stadium for Brian McDermott's outfit.

Joe.ie reports that the player is desperate to ply his trade in the Barclays Premier League, although with Reading only six points outside the play-off places that dream could be realised in Berkshire.

Liverpool spent big on strikers in January, with Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez brought into Merseyside to nulify the exit of Spaniard Fernando Torres.

Dalglish has hinted at strengthening in a number of positions in the summer too, and despite the double striker addition it appears another forward could be on the radar for Liverpool.

A left back is thought to be the club's main priority though, and the Liverpool squad is set for a major revamp in the summer

I hope a top quality CB and a creative midfielder are the priorities in the summer because we will win nothing without them.

Well Aqua could be back so that's the latter sorted, so just a CB then.

Why the insult to the lad?
I mean, seriously, he put in his shift when he put the red on........?
You come across as the sort of fan that annoys the majority.
I suppose you have names for the rest of the team too?

Sorry, but you are a DICK!

CB, LF, LW, holding Midfielder, and replace Alonso properly

How the f*ck do you replace one the best players in the world though. Have the mancs ever replaced the greasy preening show pony, or do they look like they will ever replace Scholes? It's a massive ask of any team without megabucks to spend.

Personally I think we need
Centre Back - Agger is the only one in the current first team I see with any future.
Left Back - All we have right now is a RB out of position and no viable cover
Right Mid - Kuyt can't be putting in shift there forever
Striker - back up / partner to Carroll (unless Suarez is going to do that; in which case we will also need....)
Left Mid - see above.

you could argue Relish, Stevie and Lucas are creative midfielders, it's a decent defensive / holding midfielder we need. (IMO we have never really replaced Didi in this regard)

We also need a left back, and for CB hopefully Wilson will show a bit more than he has already, plus if Kelly is as good in his prefered position as he is at Right back then we've no worries on that front.

For me the priority is quality wide players, we are too narrow, and have been for a long time.

We need wingers, proper pacey decent wingers.

For me, Wilson has done fine. This is his second full season at a professional level, in a league markedly better than the one he played in last season, and he has only played 5 games - 4 of which have been at left back. Personally I'd've sent him back to Rangers on a season long loan to help him along a bit, but I'm glad we didn't now - otherwise alien would still be kicking around.

We are supposedly the frontrunners to sign Yann M'Vila (even going so far as to put in a bid apparently, but as far as I can tell this is horseshit) and Toussa (?) Sissoko which should take care of the DM position. A LB/LWB, a left midfielder and Ashley Young coupled to the promotion of several of our more promising players (Patch, Suso, Ince) and some speculative punts (such as Georginio Wijnaldum, Eljero Elia and Shane Long) and we should have a very very strong squad next season - especially if we can hold onto Aqua and Insua

Agree with that.

Wilson has hardly had a look in to be fair, and has been used at left back more often than not as TSP states. He's just turned 19 remember, and is still one for the future, but will hopefully get the odd run out in his favoured position as time goes on.

IF we sign Shane Long I will be amazed and appalled. So far from the quality we need it's not funny.
