I'm not sure what planet these people are on. Every party was going to bring cuts to the public sector which we couldn't even afford during the good years, hence the increased borrowing.

Why should future generations have to pay for inflated salaries, cushy pensions and jobs that shouldn't even exist on top of what they would normally pay in tax? And how can we tax people any more than they are now without driving job creators and top talent out of the country? The top rate of tax of 83% didn't make a difference in the 70s anyway. This is what happens when the Unions have too much control and fund a party of government, I'm afraid. Thank fuck the last lot aren't still in power and God help us if Unions man Ed got in.

Regardless of being a 'worldwide recession', it was Gordon Brown and the rest of the Noo Labour shower who either sold off our reserves, gave them away or spent taxpayers money in a mad frenzy of stupidity ...... the birds have come home to roost. Maybe the overspend is far bigger than what we are being officially told - those in the City have alluded to a far bigger chasm in the deficit than current politicians haven't divulged so far. I can't say that I agree with this Coalition Government - it would have been fairer for a salary cap and percentage of wage cuts right across the board in order to protect jobs. To reward Bankers for their greed whilst others suffer is crass stupidity. These banks keep bleating on about themselves being international corporations - ok..... so why the fuck has the British Taxpayer exclusively bailed out these international corporations? I feel desperately sorry for the poor old worker he as always ends up being the fall guy. I'd like to see even distribution of wealth (industry, corporate business, arts, sports/ventures, opportunities, infrastructure) right across the country. Those living down south haven't a clue how these heartlands in the rest of the country are really suffereing. There's no such party as 'Labour'; they disappeared many years ago. In fact I's say that Noo Labour have a lot to answer for and by the way - where's that grinning chimpanzee who masquerades as the Middle East Envoy - Bliar? He's fucked off sharpish while the shit hits the fan.

We have a deficit because we paid £90b to the banks and then billions into quantitative easing if Brown hadn't done that this country would have collapsed around us, and we would have been far worse off than we are now, not only the loss of millions of pensions and savings but a million more job losses.
I am not saying the last government didn't make mistakes but we will get the money back from the banks. This government will follow thatcher's methods by ruining industry and finish us off in the North once and for all.

Very true, but people still vote for them!! It drives me mad listening to the older generation some of whom are unable to countenance voting for anyone but Labour. There's no point blaming donkeys when they fuck it up; I blame all the stupid bastards that voted New Labour in, and then kept them in for 3 consecutive terms!!!

Here's what New Labour said in their 1997 manifesto:
"In each area of policy a new and distinctive approach has been mapped out, one that differs from the old left and the Conservative right. This is why new Labour is new."

"New Labour is a party of ideas and ideals but not of outdated ideology. What counts is what works. The objectives are radical. The means will be modern".

That's what New Labour thinks of Old Labour.

There are some really fucked up/stupid people out there ....... i.e. Gillian Duffy - sussed Brown when he called her 'a bigotted woman' but she still voted for his party. Brown raided our pensions, sold off our gold reserve for a pittance, wasted £billions on the CSA, gave away £billions etc, etc, etc, ......... Noo Labour fucked up this country!!!

Are you for real!!! I voted labour even though I knew it wasn't the party I grew up with because I was afraid of the alternatives and that my friend will be the opinion of millions of people in this country in the next election. I have lived through a Tory government before many in the country haven't.
They Torys are going to cut, cut and cut then make two give away budgets and expect people to forget what they did before, but it won't happen, the country has them sussed..

ye well that was me i voted for them,
yes labour get things wrong, but if your old, young, unemployed, nothern or in need of the HNS
your better off under a labour party.

under the tony blair government we had almost full employment.
we had a great 10 years, firms had to bring in poles to fill vacancies, well defo in the building game.
look around you new hospitals and schools built everywhere.

then the world recession hits and the public vote this uncaring shower back in Jesus.
with in a few months, we have Youth unemployment at its highest since records began.

these cuts are political motivated its the agenda
i remember thatcher onces saying unemployment is a price worth paying, ye unbelievable.

by the way the cuts haven't started to take effect yet.

brilliant turn out yesterday well done to all of you,

The reason we had to bring the poles in is because thatcher and Major decimated our industrial heart, they shattered the Apprenticeship system which left us woefully short of trained workers, we had nowhere to go, that stupidity is about to happen again, we will have a huge underclass and we will have to turn abroad again when the upturn arrives, ludicrous politics.

Manufacturing suffered more under New Labour than it did under tories, this is a fact. And the boom years we enjoyed, on the back of an inherited healthy economy where no unpopular action was required, were born out of a housing bubble and soaring personal debt. Labour were involved in la la land economics where Brown thought he could end boom and bust.

lewie mate, the Manufacturing thing is true but is a trend that is repeating throughout Europe.
we have turned to more of a serves industry, we cannot compete with china who now produce
1/3 of European goods.

you can bet under the Tories it would of been far worse, it always is. now thats a fact.
