| Tony Evans, football editor for The Times newspaper, today said he expects Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres to leave Liverpool.
In an interview with talkSPORT, Evans basically said:
* Roy Hodgson was brought in as a 'yes man' as he won't fight the owners like Benitez did (although he did add that maybe 'yes man' was the wrong phase)
* Hodgson was brought in to carry the can for the player sales which is a shame as he's a good manager
* This article by Dion Fanning in the Irish Independent touched on the reality of the status of the club
* The owners will continue to take money out of the club
* No sign of anyone buying the club - mocked Martin Broughton's claims about the club getting sold by the end of summer
* Liverpool in meltdown
* Said he wasn't optimistic like Jamie Carragher that Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres would be at Liverpool next season
* Broken promises to Gerrard & Torres is good enough reason for them to leave
* Attempts now to "extricate with dignity" both players from the club
* Wouldn't blame Gerrard & Torres for leaving Liverpool
* Understands Chelsea think they can get Torres on the cheap
* Thinks there would be riots if Torres left for Chelsea for just £60m
* Thinks Liverpool could be persuaded to let Torres go for £60m
* Understands Chelsea's first offer could be as low as £25m for Torres
* Gerrard to Real Madrid most likely destination
* Liverpool is a club in a decline - meltdown could be bigger than that witnessed by Leeds United
* Fans need to realise the state of the club and the current desperatation
Yesterday Tony Evans confirmed our claims that Kenny Dalglish is currently on unscheduled leave and considering his future relationship with the club while the current regime is in the place.

| The article is full of words like - Thinks - Understands - Most Likely - Could be.
The whole article is based on supposition - for fucksake - I got an article printed in the Crocky times a couple of years ago, does that make me a journalist?
Dion Fanny knows as much as the rest of the Friggin Media, Quoted on Talkshite - Cmon that says it all. |

He also believes things HAVE been happening behind the scenes regarding the sale of the two players thats where the "extricate with dignity" quote came from, he didn't come across like some jurno bumping their gums like you see on the sunday supplement , you could hear he felt down about it all as he was saying ever remark... |

I although I can understand these types of sentiment, often an expression of outrage at unfounded news pieces, I think you are missing the point. These types of sentiment, which you so eloquently branded bullshit, must be aired, if for no other reason, just to place that pressure do they don’t do precisely what Tony and other are saying they will do. Those managing the club need to be called out early and often just to keep them in check. Otherwise, silence would be even worse.
The alternative for Tony and others is to keep quite and not pressure these guys. Knowing what they have been able to do with fans and media scrutiny squarely on their fronts, I’m afraid what they will do if there is no pressure. So, bullcrap it may be but we mustn’t lose the very reason why these sentiments are uttered. Lets not be shortsighted.

| It was not a good interview to be honest, especially since he was pretty much just giving us his tho8ughts. I like Evans but this was just more speculation.
With all the shit going on in all the newspapers etc on the rumors of G&H hiring a Yes man to strip the club. Where are the Premier League Chiefs? The FA? Are they not going to step in and stop this ? I mean Liverpool, whether you are a fan or not, the team is the most successful in England. To let some foreign investors come in an ruin the club while they sit by and allow it!
Fucking shameful how and what the sport has come to! |
